There were 9.926 manufactures, hiring not less than 50 workers in Korea, at December 31, 1985 which had to employ occupational health personnel legally. Authors investigated the demand and supply of occupational physician, occupational health assistant and industrial hygienist according to Occupational Safety and Health Low on the date of December 31, 1985. The investigted data were come from Ministry of Labor and Korean Industrial Health Association.
The deficit rate of occupational physician, occupational health assistant and industrial hygienist were 10.1£¥, 8.0£¥ and 36.2£¥ respectively, and the rate was higher in smal-scale industry than in large-scale industry. Most of employed occupational physicians worked as part-time job (95.4£¥) and only 1.5£¥ of occupational physicians worked as full-time job. Thirty-six percent of the manufactures hiring not less than 300 workers employed others than registered nurse, viz., legally unqualified person. The completion rate of occupational health job training at the Korean Industrial Health Association By the law among occupational physicians, occupational health assistant and industrial hygienists were 14.8£¥, 45.8£¥ and 90.6£¥.

Therefore, it is recommanded to utilize health management agency in the future.
